ReOPEN Multiplier event „ Development and Recognition of high-quality non-formal online learning materials“
Zagreb, Croatia, 7 February 2018

Due to the high interest of the educational community in Croatia, a second Multiplier event, a workshop entitled “Development and Recognition of high-quality non-formal online learning materials” (Izrada i vrednovanje kvalitetnih neformalnih online obrazovnih sadržaja), was organized by the University Computing Centre SRCE. This time the participants were educators working in vocational and adult education. The workshop has covered the topics of development of open online learning materials, application of digital badges and recognition of non-formal open learning.

At the beginning of the workshop the ReOPEN project idea and its goals were presented as well as the training materials developed. During the workshop, the potential impact of the project on the Croatian society and education was discussed. Participants also participated in a group work reaching some joint conclusions on the topic of non-formal online learning. The language of the workshop was Croatian.

Panel Discussion entitled “Recognition of non-formal education as catalyst for LLL and adult learning”

Project partner SRCE jointly with the Representation of the European Commission office in Croatia organized a panel discussion on the topic of recognition of non-formal education on February 8th, 2018 at the premises of European Commission office in Croatia. The Panel discussion was organized within the Erasmus+ project ReOPEN. The panellists coming from the Agency for Vocational and Adult Learning, the National Council for Development of Human Potential, the Croatian Employer Association and the big technological companies (Ericsson, Nikola Tesla) representing the economy sector considered the problem of low level of adult education in Croatia.

The reasons and possible solutions, the issue of recognition of non-formal learning as the way to increase the competences and employability of people in Croatia and how can legal framework for recognition of prior learning foster the growth of adult education and upskilling of working force were discussed. At the beginning of the panel the ReOPEN project and its goals were presented. The panel discussion attracted lots of participants from all levels of education and media. The panel concluded that this is a very important and actual topic which needs further discussions and better and faster realisation of the activities defined on the national level.

Partner meeting, University Computing Centre of SRCE
Zagreb, Croatia, 20 February 2018

The ReOPEN partner meeting was hosted by the Unversits Computing Centre of SRCE. All partners participated. The partners gave an overview on the state of accomplishment of the project activities and an account on the goals achieved, as well as the challenges encountered since the last meeting in Seville. The prospected 5 CPD courses will be available in English and in some of the national languages.

Two peers will review each course - one from the author organisation and second from outside the organisation. Case – scenario collection on recognition of validated non-formal open learning courses will be published on the ReOpen website. Further multiplier events are going to be organised. The next partner meeting will be held in September in Berlin, Germany.

Presentation of the ReOPEN project to the academics at the Politecnica University Timsoara

The ReOPEN project and its goals and results were presented to the academics at the Politecnica University Timsoara within their workshop titled “Open Education - Impact of Openness: institutions, resources, tools, teachers, subjects“ organized during the Open Education Week 2018’ on Friday, 9 March.

Online presentation was held by Sandra Kucina Softic from SRCE, partner at the ReOPEN project. Presentation titled “Open Education- importance of communities and networking” was held online and besides presenting the ReOPEN project, the EDEN organization was also presented as an important leader in the promotion of Open Education.

The recognition of open learning and the ReOPEN project on the Open Education Week 2018

One of the main issues of the ReOpen project, the recognition of open learning was discussed during an Open Education Week 2018 webinar on Tuesday, 6 March under the title of Challenges for quality of open educational resources with great success. The webinar was moderated by Wim Van Petegem, Vice President of EDEN. Presenters included Airina Volungeviciene, leader of the ReOpen project, President of EDEN, EDEN EC members and acknowledged professionals of the field.

ReOPEN partners are open for affiliated and collaborative agreements for the ReOPEN project results' exploitation for education organizations all over Europe.

Upcoming events

It will be the last transnational partner meeting summing up the lessons learned and the main conclusions of the ReOPEN project.

Main topics of the meeting will include CPD course piloting results and feedback from national multiplier events as well as the impact, sustainability and dissemination related issues. The meeting will be hosted by ESCP Europe Business School Berlin, district "Charlottenburg", next to Charlottenburg castle.
